Method

  1. Instructions
  2. 1️⃣ Prepare the Fries:
  3. Bake frozen fries according to package directions or prepare homemade fries until golden and crispy. Season with salt.
  4. 2️⃣ Cook the Veggies:
  5. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high. Sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms (if using) until softened, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  6. 3️⃣ Cook the Steak:
  7. Season steak with garlic salt and pepper. In the same skillet, cook steak slices for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Return veggies to the skillet, mix, and remove from heat.
  8. 4️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce:
  9. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, add flour, and whisk for 1 minute. Gradually add milk while whisking until thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Lower heat, add provolone and cheddar, whisk until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. 5️⃣ Assemble:
  11. Place hot fries on a serving platter, top with steak and veggie mixture, then pour cheese sauce generously over the top. Alternatively, sprinkle extra cheese and broil for 2-3 minutes for a bubbly finish.
  12. 6️⃣ Serve:
  13. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions. Serve immediately while hot.
